2010

Heading Out on the Road Again!

There will be two main trips for 2010: June 2010 will be to Gillette Wyoming for the airstream international rally – there will be over 1,000 airstream RV’s, mostly trailers. Except, there will be at least ONE classic traditional design motor home, my 1986 classic 345 limited edition. We have spent 3 solid years “upgrading” the interior and exterior, including major changes to the 454 Chev. gas engine. Now we have “happiness in the garden” for our RVing pleasure. Our next big trip will be to South Africa in November 2010.

During June & July I’ll be taking my classic Airstream motorhome on a trip to Gillette, Wyoming to join the 53rd International Airstream Rally.  There are 720 RV’s already registered and there likely will be a great number of last-minute arrivals that should bring the total to well over 1,000 rigs. We will be at the Cam-Plex Wyoming Center which can easily accommodate this large group, providing full hook-ups for everyone. Airstream International has been organizing these events for 53 years, so all we do is FIT IN and enjoy!

98% of the RV’s will, of course, be their world famous line of travel trailers, from 19’ to 34’.  In fact the new 34’ Airstream has a slide-out in the living room – 1.5 feet extra space that really makes a big difference.

There will also be a few of the traditional classic design motorhomes, from 27’ to 36’.  The motorhome classic design is a rare breed and there are only a few left, so any of them will be a treat to see.

The picture is of our 1986 Airstream 345 motorhome which has gone through extensive restoration and is a pleasure to own and drive down the highways.  It is not unusual for us to take all of our 7 animals with us on camping trips.  However, on this trip the only pet will be the motorhome’s mascot Royce, our medium sulfur-crest cockatoo.  Royce has been on every single trip the motorhome has taken from the time of purchase in February of 2007.
