Airstream

The perfect RV choice: ”Airstream”

My beautiful baby!

The early part of the year 2000, I started looking for the perfect RV which I knew wouldn’t be easy because I didn’t want to do what many RV owners end up doing. They would buy one, then trade it in for a different one and continue doing it until they were completely satisfied.

Original Bedroom

I have a varied knowledge of boating, from 18’ to 57’, and have piloted up to 75’ and I know boats and RV’s are very similar. They both have similar electrical and voltage systems, auxillary generators, and either gas or diesel as the main engines. My next desire was to find a brand that has proven quality and longevity, but without spending as much as a second vacation home. I also had to figure into the equation, my transportation after arriving at my destination.

First thing was remove the carpet

I had already viewed an airstream trailer, inside and out, and their quality and longevity is a proven factor, but they are a little on the expensive side, but well worth the value. I considered a 5th wheel RV with a good truck to pull it, but didn’t really want to pull an RV of any sort. I had no idea that airstream had made a motor home, until I saw a 27’ for sale in a parking lot, asking $1,200 a foot. I looked at a few other brands but the quality just wasn’t what I wanted to contend with, for the rest of my life. I didn’t want to own another RV, I had to make a perfect choice the first time.

New Queen Size Bedroom

Through the internet I found two 34’ airstream motor homes, one in Northern California and the other in Dallas Texas. We went to view the Northern California unit and fell in love with its floor plan, but found out later that the maintenance had not been kept up with. Six months afterward, through friends contact, the perfect choice approached me, and in Northern California. IT WAS PERFECT in every way. I could see the upgrading I would do, I could vision the classic 1985 airstream motor home of my dreams.

New Awning

In seven years, it has gone through upgrading the engine room, interior, exterior and electronics, which included a trip to Jackson Center Ohio (where it was built) for the necessary tweaking, Airstream quality style.

New Burgundy Stripe

Some day it will be passed on, to another “Airstream love affair!”
